One perpetually dark day, a swarm of moths will arrive at the caravan and descend upon Scorponok, fluttering wildly. There is every imaginable breed of moth represented in the swarm, but all bear the same feature- a red throat.
They drop the item Scorponok requested from Sir Goodpoint, the Anti-Lamp. Some of the moth messengers also drop, expiring from the strain of having collectively hauled the object from the Below to here. The survivors land, shuddering as they finally find relief from their heavy burden. They will immediately swarm and devour anything they find that is their species’ natural source of food: fruits, nectar, dung, fibrous sweaters, to name a few things. Eventually, the ones who are able to feed and rally will begin the arduous journey back Below.
The Anti-Lamp has the same basic shape of Sir Goodpoint’s most classic style of lantern. However, rather than glass panes, the dark wrought metal holds panes of obsidian, one of which has a hinge and a latch. When shut, the device is entirely opaque. That is its purpose, after all- to fully contain the light within, rather than disseminating it.
The Anti-Lamp has a loop at the top, to which a hook with a long metal pole has been attached. It seems one might typically use the pole to carry the Anti-Lamp at a distance from one’s body. Etched into the hinged pane is an outline of a moth with four arms held crossed in front of it, forming two Xs. It must be Sir Goodpoint’s version of a ‘hazardous materials’ symbol. The other panels have runes carved in them. If sniffed, they smell of metal and blood.
The Anti-Lamp will fully contain the light of any object placed within, provided it can fit fully inside of the lamp’s interior and the door be shut and latched. How to safely get a radiant item into the Anti-Lamp for containment? No instructions are included. Scorponok will have to figure out something on his own.
