[Scorponok makes a face. Sure, babies are fine and all, but the whole "organics eating other organics" is somehow a bit gross to imagine.]

Well. Then if there's any DNA intact, I can handle it. Do you need a copy immediately, or can I go through a few iterations to make the perfect fish?

Sooner is better, but I know these are not things you rush, either. I can deliver the sample to you right now if you're available.

Of course you can. In exchanve, I request that you keep Aura Froudine occupied so that she does not disturb my work. You know how curious she can be with new experiments.

[Thankfully, he soon adds:] Make sure she goes to her tutors on time, ensure that she takes her naps when I'm not around, but in general, don't let her get in here. I'll look after her when I'm free.

[Aura Froudine is unfortunately sitting on Scorponok's lab pretending to write down lab notes when Donnie arrives. Scorponok figures that he can trade: the fish for his daughter. At least, until the deal has been completed.

He looks up from his desk when the door opens, as does Aura, who squeels at seeing the turtle.] Off you go. Play with your friend as long as you like.

Hey Aura.

[He gives her a smile, waving with his free hand since he's holding a purple ice chest in the other.]

All right, Scorp, I'd like updates and full reports on the process if it's all fine by you.

[eugenesis]

[She slides off of Scorponok's laps, drops the clipboard onto the floor with a clatter, and runs over to kneel beside Donnie and pat him on on the head.]

I'll give you one daily, then. Once the analysis is done, the next thing would be to wait for the fish to grow. [A shrug.] You can even come in to observe the process.

[Donnie grunts a bit at the head-pat. He pulls out an oversized (to him) wrapped piece of candy from his bag, holding it out to her before stepping forward to hand over the ice chest to Scorponok.]

Excellent. That'll be fine then.

And remember, we're just cloning a fish, we're not trying to create a new super soldier or something.

[The candy is immediately consumed by a delighted toddler.]

I'll get you that fish, one way or another. What does it eat, anyway?

[Aura gets a pat on the...well, he can't reach her head, so he just pats her on the arm.]

Well, according to my notes, it will eat waterbound insects and larvae but also feast on algae. Pretty standard freshwater fish stuff.

I'll order enough for a small aquarium. I have a glass container prepared, but I have not fully stocked it with food. Some prepared mealworms should be good enough.

[A pause.]

Would more than one cloned fish satisfy you?

[thepurpleone]

I can help with the food part. Algae is at least easy to cultivate under the proper conditions.

-hm. Well, I only need one but more than one might be good just in case we have any unforeseen complications.

[eugenesis]

A school, then. We can create our little ecosystem on the ship. Perhaps the organics will want to eat some if they're hungry.

[thepurpleone]

These weren't meant to be eaten! And we already have a contained ecosystem- we've built it into the hydroponics lab, which is where this fish was previously. But they are purely meant to be for viewing.

[eugenesis]

[Scorponok smiles.] Then it means I get to keep more of them.

[Someone is certainly scheming on what to do with any extra fish...]

[Donnie sets his hands on his hips.]

You're plotting something and I don't like it.

[His grin only grows.]

I am a boy of many ideas. Of course I'm already thinking of how to analyze its DNA.
